You may have been too busy crying your eyes out to notice, but The Walking Dead from Telltale Games was a big critical success. High scores and game of the year awards abound, however there wasn’t much news on how it did commercially. Speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Telltale CEO and co-founder, Dan Connors, revealed that across the various platforms The Walking Dead has sold over 8.5 million episodes. About a quarter of those were on iOS and doing the maths The Wall Street Journal works out that it amounts to around $40 million in sales. Connors comments “November and December were our biggest months. It was the culmination of the product, the game of the year awards, the retail push.”
In another interview, this time with Red Bull UK (they report on games now apparently) Connors comments on Season 2. “Right now we are just starting to form the concept for season two,” On the subject of saves being imported from Season one he had this to say: “This all remains to be seen but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over.” So be sure to keep those save games safe, you might still need them.
Ok, you can go back to crying now.
