Rumor: ‘Doom 4′ headed to Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4

Doom 4, which is expected to be the next big first-person shooter from seasoned developer id Software, seems to be headed to both Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles.

Lead programmer Brian Harris hinted at the game’s development through, of course, his Twitter account. His Linkedin has him down as the lead behind Doom 4 until January 2012, when he moved over to Doom 3 BFG. A single Tweet seems to suggest that he’s now back on the game.

“Currently home taking care of a new baby girl,” Harris said when asked about his current work situation. “When I get back, I’ll help port the big project to new platforms.”

While he never actually typed out “Doom 4,” his Tweet makes it sound like he’s moving that game from current gen to what’s coming next. So, it may be a launch title that straddles the technological fence.

We’ll have to just wait and see if this comes be at a later date.

    looking at the fact rage had a dlc just recently id say we are alteast a year away before seeing an actual ingame trailer.

      How much of a fanboy could you possibly be? If you’d take Microsoft’s shaft out of your mouth you would know that the Playstation brand is home to a bunch of shooters and usually makes up about 40% of CoD sales since i’m sure that’s all you play. Have fun being tied to one platform while I play on every single one. Pleb.

        Sorry to tell you this x360 has more cod sales and activision gets a cut from xboxlive subscription.

        WTF does sony and ms have to do with id? Doom 4 is a pc game. The only thing i said is that considering how much time id neesd to make games, we wont be seeing doom 4 for atleast a year.

      There was another rumor going around that Rage 2′s development won’t get started until after Doom 4 hits shelves. Was never a Doom fan, or horror games of any kind really. I’ll wait it out for Rage 2.
