Christian “IWillDominate” Rivera, a professional League of Legends player, has been banned from playing in the game’s Championship series for a full year.
Vice president of eSports Dustin “RedBeard” Beck let the community know of this action in a forum post. The main issue that led to the severe suspension was Rivera’s history of “toxic behavior,” as he’d already been permanently banned from the game before this incident.
Rivera has been brought before the Tribunal eight or nine times, so it’s not shocking that his “persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude” finally caught up to him.
“We take sportsmanship and player behavior very seriously, and we fundamentally believe that pro players should not be exempt from scrutiny over their behavior” the announcement read.
The remainder of Rivera’s existing accounts have also been permanently banned, and while he may have been an integral part of bringing Team Dignitas to the Season 2 North American Regional Finals, he will be replaced.
