The original Wii could be seeing a fresh console design next month, if an internal report is to be believed.
NintendoWorldReport discovered a supposed internal release schedule from a yet-to-be-named “major retailer” that has spilled the beans on a Wii Mini console due out Dec. 7. The bundle will include this new Wii, a sensor bar, a nunchuck and a Wii Remote Plus.
Nothing has been confirmed, but Nintendo director of product marketing Bill Trinen stated last week that he believes the Wii can still remain viable alongside the Wii U.
“I think there’s also the potential for a lot of people who still haven’t purchased Wii, believe it or not, who might be interested at the right price,” Trinen said. “So we’ll probably be looking at it more from that standpoint.”
We’ll just have to wait and see how serious Nintendo is about keeping the Wii alive.
