In a conversation with Polygon, Ubisoft confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2, the sequel to 2003’s Beyond Good & Evil, is still in development, despite sparse updates on its progress.
Michel Ancel, lead designer of Beyond Good & Evil 1 & 2, has had his attention a little divided as of late, it seems.
“He was working on Rayman Origins last year, and he’s working a lot on Rayman Legends this year,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said. “So, you know, when he does that, he kind of puts too much of his time on the other projects that he has.”
“So the fact is, that working on Legends is slowing the process on Beyond Good and Evil 2.”
When the original Beyond Good & Evil launched, it was a commercial failure, but it was met with high critical praise. Fans of the game have been eagerly awaiting its sequel since first mention of it in 2008. When those fans will be able to get their grubby, little hands on it is anyone’s guess, even Ancel’s, I presume.
