‘Farming Simulator 2013′ outsells ‘Medal of Honor: Warfighter’

I spent several minutes in the shower this morning trying to think of a snarky way to start this news story, but instead of being mean I’ll just come out with it: in total global numbers, Farming Simulator 2013 has sold a good 55,000 more copies than the top-selling console (Xbox 360) of Medal of Honor: Warfighter. It’s almost not even funny (but it’s kinda funny).

A glance at the VGChartz metrics as of October 27 will show that Europe is the main reason for this, as the former game sold gangbusters across the pond whereas Warfighter struggled to keep up. It’s also important to remember that these are very different games targeted at very different demographics, and it doesn’t imply any quality or lack thereof for either game. Additinally, combining the numbers of both consoles for Warfighter means that it technically sold more overall. I haven’t played Farming Simulator 2013 myself, and haven’t played enough of Warfighter to form a fair opinion, but you’ll be seeing a review of the latter here soon.

    The tractor controls in this game are unreal. When you ads your tractor becomes so precise it really makes harvesting crops much more efficient. I bought a used copy of Warfighter to use as a coaster while I play FS2013. Couldn’t be happier with both purchases.

    That doesn’t include Origin / PSN sales though, I bet MOH sold at least 50,000 copies digitally.

    All the reviews reek of sour grapes since reviewers didn’t get the game early. It’s not that bad of a game really.

    Of course, at least farming simulator brings something that hasnt been seen before, a fucking farming simulator! MOHW is just pure COD COPY and all in it has been seen before. I also had it with american patriotism this time…

    Kind of misleading title when you consider that ps3 + xbox sales combined for MOH are just over 650k and farming sim is just over 405k….

    I don’t think I contributed to the stats, having bought the game for my son through Steam. However, i have been playing it a lot and will be purchasing it for my own account. I grew up on a farm, so a lot of this is familiar to me. This game is a lot of fun. I enjoy the work put into plowing, cultivating, sowing and harvesting… working towards bigger and better equipment which makes it all easier. There is such a variety of ways to make money, and therefore you choose your strategy.

    Looking forward to playing it multiplayer with my son. That should be a good time.
