Capcom’s Resident Evil 6 has been struggling with the critics since its release earlier this week, garnering an unexpected 67 rating on the Xbox 360. It’s a strange number to see for a AAA game, but what’s even more shocking is its User Score, which sits at 0.5 average.
That low number comes from 1862 different users, and while some have seemingly enjoyed the return of zombies, the majority of players are disappointed with the final product.
“They made it [Resident Evil 6] more of an action game, they added more co-op and that pointless AI partner, and it isn’t even scary!” user GameInterpretor wrote. “What the hell is wrong with you, Capcom?”
Strangely, that’s one of the nicer comments.
“As a RE fan, I am extremely, extremely disappointed.” Beavermatic wrote. “Rushed, disorganized, and downright shameful to the series (even worse than Operation Racoon city).”
We’ve seen similar fan backlash in console-exclusive games like Gears of War 2, but this is one of the lowest numbers to date. Sure, some of the outcry may be coming from people who haven’t even played the game, but there still seems to be a large group of unsatisfied, or even angry, buyers.
