With a slew of new features and game design elements already revealed, Ubisoft has launched a four-part video series chronicling the making of Assassin’s Creed III. The following video is third in the series, with the fourth expected sometime before launch.

As part of the “Inside Assassin’s Creed III” series, part three focuses on the brand new character of Connor. As a half-Native American/half-European Assassin, Conner is “forever motivated by the desire to do the right thing,” causing a continual conflict of interests throughout the game. As creative director Alex Hutchinson points out, “You, as Connor, as the Assassin, are the critical part of the American Revolution.”
As the game’s story progresses, Connor meets historical figures, including many of America’s founding fathers. That said, he has strong ties to his ancestry and Native American culture, making his home in the rough, dynamic wilderness.
One impressive revelation the video brings to light is the shear volume of new animations. “The animation team has built over an hour of new animations, just for Connor alone,” says Hutchinson. Connor is a more fierce and brutal Assassin than any of his predecessors, and he moves like an entirely new character as well. His climbing and running are more “organic” than ever, with most of his movement based off of parkour.
If you haven’t checked out the video yet, stop reading my synopsis and get on it. With stunning visuals and fascinating insights, there’s nothing more I can say that they haven’t said better.
Keep an eye out for the final “Inside Assassin’s Creed III” trailer. Assassin’s Creed III drops on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 31, and on the Wii U on November 18.
