Platinum Games may have been able to save Metal Gear Rising from the brink of cancellation, but sadly, the developer couldn’t rescue the Xbox 360 version in Japan.
This hack-and-slash title coming from the makers of Bayonetta has been looking as sharp as can be, but that didn’t stop Kojima Productions from announcing the game’s single-platform release in the Land of the Rising Sun. Eurogamer has been told by a reliable Konami source that Rising will still make it to 360 in other territories, so most Microsoft fans eager to jump into Raiden’s metallic boots can rest easy.
No reason was given for the cancellation, but if we had to guess, the Xbox 360’s low popularity in Japan probably has a lot to do with it. For now, though, that’s just speculation.
Any other reason why Kojima Productions would do this? Could it possibly be loyalty to the PlayStation? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
