Despite an avid fanbase which has been clamouring for a sequel for years, there is still no plan to make Jade Empire 2. In a recent AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, Chris Priestly, one of the community leaders at BioWare Edmonton confirmed that fact.
The original game released in 2005 on the original Xbox and averaged a score of 89 on Metacritic. Last year in an interview with Eurogamer, BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka insisted that the franchise is by no means dead.
“It’s an IP, it’s a setting that we’re really passionate about, and we still are. Both Greg and I were big believers in the IP.
“We’re just looking for the right way to deploy it.”
“We have a lot of different projects now on a lot of different platforms, and you might see some of that [Jade Empire] in the future. You never know.
Would you like to see Jade Empire make a return during the next generation? Right now the rumor mill is full of whispers involving Dragon Age III but we’d also expect Mass Effect to make it’s return as well. Comment below or in the forums!
