Xbox 720 to Release “In the Next Eighteen Months” says Job Listing

A job listing on Microsoft’s career website, spotted by CVG, has made a mention hinting that the next generation Xbox console will be releasing “in the next eighteen month.” Does this mean we will see the Xbox 720 by 2014?

The job listing found is looking for a Central Marketing Group director. The listing specifically says that “over the next eighteen months Microsoft will release new versions of all of our most significant products including Windows (Client, Server, Phone and Azure), Office and Xbox, along with completely new offerings like Microsoft Surface,” almost confirming that we will hear about the new Xbox in the coming months.

This doesn’t come to much of a surprise as rumors have floated around the interent suggesting a release in 2013 and development kits have been spotted already. Also, Microsoft mentioned the “next Xbox” earlier this week, but quickly denied they were talking about a next generation console.

What are your thoughts on this? It does seem that we are ending the end of the current console’s life cycle and should be seeing new hardware very soon. Discuss in the comments below or in the Stick Skills forums.

I’m pretty sure Microsoft isn’t going to make a new Xbox.Even less call it the Xbox 720.Adding up 360+360=720 no Microsoft isn’t that dumb. But they will just probably release a new dash update for the Xbox adding more features.

There will be a new console, no doubt about that. The Xbox 360′s lifecycle is almost over, it’s running out of power for devs. Also, “720″ is just the name everyone is calling it before there is an official name.

I really hope we get some info from Microsoft soon. There’s only so much software updates can do, they need to release new hardware.

I not as excited for it today as I would have been 3 years ago. Personally, I’m at that point in my life where I’m close to graduating from college, starting a career, and getting on with my life. Games are holding me back.
With that in mind, IF I go out an buy the new console, it won’t be for at least four or five years, long enough to settle into something steady. Even then, I hope to move beyond my gaming addiction (which I refuse to acknowledge). So my thoughts are on how good of an entertainment system it’s going to be? I’ve been watching my movies on it more and more and playing games less and less. I preordered the Special Edition of Halo 4 and I still haven’t hit lvl 50 yet. Just can’t find the time to commit to it.
