2K Games’ second installment to its narrative-driven, open-world franchise may not have gotten too much attention back in 2010, but Mafia III should grab a few more eyeballs in the next few weeks as it’s rumored to be in the works for the mysterious next-generation of consoles.
Eurogamer.cz. is claiming that a 2K source close to its website stated that while Mafia III was originally planned to be an Xbox 360 and PS3 title, development too an unexpected turn and the team is now looking ahead to the hardware rumored to be released either late 2013 or early 2014. The game itself will appear later in both consoles’ life cycles, as it’s still early on and not ready to be shown in any form to the public.
Little else can be gathered with the information we have now, but expect further developments in the coming weeks.
