In early 2007, the original STALKER was released and ultimately became a cult classic. The series has developed a solid following since initially launching, and rightfully so as it was a well done first-person shooter.
Quite a few fans were saddened to hear that development had stopped on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 earlier in the year, but hope might still be out there for you. A rumor has surfaced today that Bethesda has acquired the rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, and will be using their own technology within the game.
While some fans may scoff at the fact that Bethesda could use their Fallout/Elder Scrolls engine, don’t count out idTech5. The engine was used in RAGE, and is currently scheduled to be used in Doom 4 whenever it finally decides to release.
