The Wii U’s official launch lineup is slowly shaping up, but plenty of established franchises are yet to be announced for Nintendo’s latest piece of hardware. We all have our favorites, but to be honest, none of our opinions mean quite as much as Shigeru Miyamoto’s.
Miyamoto has had a hand in the creation of essentially every well-loved Nintendo series, and when recently asked by IGN about what games he’d like to see most on the new, tablet-based console, he first spoke of Metroid.
“With Metroid it’s very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U,” said Miyamoto. “I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that.”
That’s all fine and dandy, but there’s a game Mr. Mario himself wants to see in HD even more. Personally, Miyamoto wants a new Star Fox, and he wants it now.
Could both of these games be in development as I write this? Maybe, but there’s no evidence available now to prove it. For now, we can only hope barrel rolls will be achieved both on the big screen and a tablet.
Do you agree with Miyamoto’s choices? Will we see either of these games early in the Wii U’s life? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
