One of the PlayStation Network’s biggest selling points is the fact that it’s free for all gamers, but if a 2011 patent filed by SCEA comes to fruition, that freedom may be at the cost of flagrant advertisements.
The document says that a notice would appear before the game would become “suspended,” warning the player that the action would momentarily stop. The advertisement would then pop up, display the product, and disappear after another warning that gameplay is about to resume. In no way is this patent a guarantee that Sony will put this concept into practice, but it is something to keep an eye on in the future.
What do you think of this in-game advertisement plan? Would you rather pay for PSN than experience interruptions during gameplay? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
