Capcom and Ninja Theory’s reboot of the highly regarded Devil May Cry franchise has just received a release date, but it’s later than many people expected. DmC Devil May Cry will be hitting consoles January 15, 2013 in North America, with the PC release following shortly after.
Everything from Dante’s new appearance to the change in development studio have aroused skepticism from the hordes of loyal hack-and-slash fans who’ve greatly enjoyed this solid series in the past. It’s difficult to deny the white-haired character’s popularity through the lifespan of the PS2, and while Ninja Theory seems to be continuing with its creative vision, recent gameplay videos seem to point to a slight step away from the “emo” style of protagonist we were introduced to last year. What really matters is how the game feels, but it looks like we’ll all have to wait and see what the developer behind Heavenly Sword and Enslaved has in store for the Devil May Cry brand early next year.
