Sly Cooper and his band of merry thieves are at it again this fall in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. Original creator Sucker Punch Productions has handed the development torch over to Sanzaru Games for the fourth title in the series, but it seems like there’s another big change in store for this stealthy platformer. Sony has now confirmed that a PlayStation Vita version will be available day-and-date with the PlayStation 3 release.

More than just a simple port, the handheld experience will incorporate cross-save compatibly and Vita-specific controls that take advantage of the hardware. An archer’s outfit allows Sly to steer arrows that act as a rope bridge by simply tilting the Vita, and while not much else has been talked about, it’s almost guaranteed that both touchscreens will be used in some manner. Whether or not buying one game nets you the other, though, is still unconfirmed.
