In this generation of consoles, it seems to be incredibly difficult to actually keep things under wraps for video game companies. With leaked documents, LinkedIn profiles and resumes, and retailers posting games early things just always seem to get leaked.
There are, of course, the rare surprises of games that come out of nowhere. If you were expecting the next Call of Duty title to be out of “nowhere”, then we’re sorry to report that won’t be happening.
Numerous reports have surfaced from “Project Ironwolf” to “Black Ops 2“, and it appears that Black Ops 2 may in fact be the official name of the upcoming title. Amazon France recently posted a listing for Black Ops 2 according to Gameblog.fr. The website that initially reported the story has been blacklisted by Activision. While we understand that the company wants the story removed, that doesn’t do anything but add credibility to the listing.
A resume for an individual working on the title has also been uncovered by Joystiq today. It has already been confirmed that Activision will be releasing a new Call of Duty title in 2012, and it looks like Treyarch may in fact be developing Black Ops 2.
What do you think about the next Call of Duty being Black Ops 2? Are you looking forward to another Call of Duty title or are you growing tired of the series? Be sure to let us know what you think by leaving us a comment below, or discuss Call of Duty in our forums.
