Star Wars: Battlefront 3 has to be in the running for the game with the most news/rumors without their being any formal announcement about the title. Numerous rumors have surfaced the past few years detailing about the title’s “impending” announcement, but nothing has truly come to surface.
After a few disappointing rumors turned out to not be true earlier this year, there appears to be a little more evidence this time that an announcement is on the horizon. Our friends over at PlaystationLifestyle have discovered quite a few clues on various LinkedIn profiles, all of which point to Star Wars: Battlefront III.
A job listing posted on Spark Unlimited, the rumored developer’s website, seems to point to the Battlefront franchise. The job posting states, “Spark is looking for a senior combat designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets”.
Further evidence finds a LinkedIn profile referencing “an unannounced third person sword fighting game (well known IP, Xbox 360, PS3)”. We’ll take your “sword” and call it a lightsaber.
There’s quite a few more clues in the original article, but all seem very likely to point to the unannounced Star Wars: Battlefront III. An E3 reveal would make the most sense, followed by a holiday release date to make it a must-have come holiday 2012.
