It’s always nice to be vindicated. Last week, on the first ever episode of StickSkillsRadio, host Dave Searles and I speculated based on pre-release media that NeverDead just isn’t going to be a compelling game. It’s been released today, and there aren’t a lot of positive things being said about it. I’m not really sure what Konami was thinking with this title – except that maybe if they make a game that’s violent enough, people will buy it.
Metacritic shows that the PS3 version has an aggregate rating of 55 out of 100 based on 4 reviews, and the Xbox360 iteration has an aggregate of 63 out of 100 based on 10 reviews so far. As more reviews come in, those scores will change – and once enough user reviews are in to get tabulated, we’ll see if that has any effect. My guess is that it absolutely will not, and if you read some of the reviews, you’ll see why. Here’s my advice.
