More Details for Mortal Kombat on PS Vita

Earlier this week it was reported here at StickSkills that Mortal Kombat would be coming to the PS Vita, and it most certainly is. Those who are familiar with the Mortal Kombat series know the name Ed Boon (hint: he made the original Mortal Kombat and all subsequent releases), and thanks to an interview with PlayStation.Blog, there are some more details on Mortal Kombat (PSVita) we can chew on. Below I have included a particularly interesting piece of the interview on one of the only Vita-specific modes we know to date, a SECOND Challenge Tower:

Ed Boon: The fundamental necessity is quick access to gameplay, whether it’s online or locally. The mobile gaming experience is shorter bites of time. We identified the Challenge Tower as a perfect fit for mobile sessions, so we expanded it greatly for PS Vita. There are actually two Challenge Towers in the PS Vita version, and the new one has 150 challenges that are exclusive to PS Vita. A number of those challenges use PS Vita’s hardware features: the touch screen, the accelerometer…

In the interview they also discuss having flirted with touchscreen fatalities, however decided it was more of a novelty and being honest myself, I agree with them. There’s no place in my Mortal Kombat for Fruit Ninja! (insert stubborn gamer frowning here) However, what there IS place for ALL the time is some Mortal Kombat on my future PS Vita, and I am incredibly excited to enjoy the most violent game of 2011 in a portable format. I just hope the Challenge Tower reward is a little better than a third costume directly geared at teenage boys (Mileena is not ever going to be attractive.)

Mortal Kombat for PS Vita contains 150 new Challenges on the Challenge Tower, as well as to-be-determined Vita-exclusive features! Leave a comment below or let us know what you think in our forums!
