PSA: Halo 4 Beta Sign-Ups Are a Scam

If you’ve received a message regarding a Halo 4 beta invite, we’d recommend not accepting it.  While anything regarding Halo 4 is incredibly exciting, the current supposed “beta” invites going out are nothing but a scam.

Traditionally, invites for a beta have been handled through Microsoft or through the Crackdown series.  Unfortunately, there’s not a Crackdown 3 in sight to allow you to grab the beta.  David Ellis, of 343 Industries, has confirmed via Twitter that the invites going out recently are in fact a scam.

Any beta invites that are being sent out are attempting to capture your information to hack and sell your account.  Microsoft has made no official announcement in regards to a beta, and we’d expect to hear confirmation on its existence closer to E3.

What do you think about the Halo 4 beta scam that has emerged?  Do you think that a real beta will emerge from 343 Industries and Microsoft later in the year?  Be sure to leave us a comment below to let us know what you think, or discuss Halo 4 in our forums!

When not writing for the site, you can find Dougie on Xbox Live & Playstation Network (Gamertag: AirUpThere06). He plays just about everything, but loves a good shooter with a great multiplayer experience.
